THE LAST BASTION
If Evolution didn't stop with Homo Sapiens... what's next? When will the
next step for humanity arrive... and what will it look like? These
questions and more are answered in The Last Bastion -- a three-volume
Speculative Fiction novel that spans decades and a multitude of solar
systems.
Here are what a few readers had to say:
The Last Bastion is epic storytelling!
The tale is familiar, yet unforgettable; an old story made new. Two
remarkable men struggle with their sense of honor and loyalty to win a
woman worth having: an extraordinary woman of passion and courage who
carries a secret within her. One destined to change humanity's future.
The author's use of rhythm and timing, coupled with a mastery of language
and vivid imagery, weaves an enormous tapestry of shadowy alliances and
enemies powerful enough to challenge time itself.
And what a roller coaster ride! The writer takes you to places filled with
people vividly painted, with gripping stories you want to learn more about,
then snatches you away to someplace new. But before you can protest her
cruelty you find yourself in another place equally compelling, encountering
the next wonderful revelation of a richly layered tale. One in which every
thread leads to the interwoven fates of three extraordinary people you have
come to love.
The end is dreadful. Dreadful because at last there are no further pages to
turn, and dreadful because, unlike Oliver, there is no one to whom you can
humbly turn and say, "Please, I'd like some more."
Gene Kersey
When I was younger I was very much into science fiction and read all the
standards: Heinlein, Asimov, and Roddenberry. Later I began reading other
topics and drifted away from Sci-Fi - until I read THE LAST BASTION by
Barbara Wellesley. Here I rediscovered the pleasure, wonder, and excitement
of an outstanding story that will enthrall sci-fi and non sci-fi fans
alike.
The character development is masterful and intricate and are woven into the
storyline with great skill. The plot is exciting and thought provoking, as
it addresses questions that mankind will have to struggle with in the not
too distant future. The technology Wellesley creates was obviously
painstakingly researched and is both plausible and accurate.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and highly recommend it for ALL readers - the
story is that good.
